The idea behind the Loch Lomond Gazette was birthed in late 2018. I knew that I wanted to start a business, but I wasn’t sure what exactly. I had ideas for many different businesses, but I didn’t do much with any of them. That’s when I had the idea to start a newsletter. More specifically a newsletter for my neighborhood, to get to know my neighbors better and share neighborhood news. I sent out fliers and after about a week had 1 subscriber. I was discouraged but not defeated. I begin creating the Gazette, but not nearly as polished as it is today. I struggled to learn how to use publisher and distribute newsletters. I gained a few subscribers when I was recommended to conduct an interview. Little did I know that recommendation would lead to where I am now. I decided to change the newsletter from a neighborhood newsletter to a community newsletter (Now, I have subscribers out of state, but the newsletter is still community-based). I soon faced a problem, I couldn’t deliver paper copies of the newsletter to all of my subscribers. There were multiple reasons, ink is expensive, there were too many subscribers to reasonably deliver to each week, and I wasn’t allowed to put papers in people’s mailboxes. That’s when the Gazette became digital. From there I continued publishing the Gazette and saw lots of growth.
